Abstract

The global environmental crisis indicates increasingly serious ecological damage due to irresponsible exploitation of nature. From an Islamic perspective, nature is part of the kauniyah verses, reflecting the greatness of God and must be protected responsibly. This study aims to examine the concept of environmental conservation in Islamic teachings through the kauniyah verses, and to explore the urgency and strategies for strengthening Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on environmental ethics. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review method, data were collected from Quranic literature, commentaries, Islamic books, scientific journals, and PAI curriculum documents. The study results indicate that Islam emphasizes the importance of humans' role as caliphs on earth, responsible for environmental sustainability. The kauniyah verses have great potential for instilling spiritual and ecological awareness in students. PAI learning can be strengthened by integrating conservation values through a thematic approach, project-based learning, and teacher role models. This study recommends that Islamic education play an active role in shaping a generation that is both religious and environmentally conscious as part of their faith.
