Abstract

English language ability in early childhood is an important aspect of language development and educational readiness in the globalization era. However, English vocabulary mastery among children at TK Darul Taklim Lombok Tengah remains relatively low. Children experience difficulties in memorizing vocabulary, pronouncing English words, and communicating confidently in English. This study aims to determine the effect of picture media on English language ability among Group A children aged 5–6 years at TK Darul Taklim Lombok Tengah. This study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 12 children in Group A. Data were collected through observation, formal tests, and documentation. Data analysis used a t-test with SPSS version 22 and N-Gain analysis to measure improvement levels. The results showed that tcount was 69.238, which was higher than ttable 2.201, indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The N-Gain result reached 88.76%, categorized as high improvement. The findings indicate that picture media effectively improve children’s English vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and communication confidence. Therefore, picture media can be used as an effective and attractive learning medium for teaching English in early childhood education.
